BandWith Chicago Website Redesign

How WixFresh redesigned BandWith Chicago’s website to support a growing nonprofit

BandWith Chicago came to WixFresh through Renaissance Social Services, another nonprofit we had worked with earlier. At the time, BandWith was in a similar place Renaissance had been the year before. The organization was growing, the work was strong, but the website was becoming harder to manage.

Annie was trying to run the organization and manage the website herself. Events needed to be updated. Newsletters needed to be added. Emails needed to be captured. Old content needed to be removed. New press and updates needed to be shown.

The website had slowly changed shape over time.

Some pages were outdated. Some sections were not mobile-friendly. COVID-era content was still live. Past events were showing like upcoming events. The site had a lot going on, but it was not clearly speaking to parents, donors, supporters, or partners.

So we did not recommend jumping straight into a redesign.

The first step was not a redesign. First, we recommended website cleanup and consistent maintenance of what already existed.

The goal was to clean up the website, catch up on updates, fix the confusing parts, and get the site working properly again.

Within the first month, we had already caught up on a lot of the urgent work.

We cleaned the pages, updated old content, organized events, added new updates, improved mobile sections, and made sure the website was actually usable again.

When we started, the website was getting around 200 to 300 visitors per month.

After the first couple of months of consistent updates, website traffic had already doubled.

That gave Annie a clearer picture of what the website could become.

After just under 6 months of maintenance, BandWith moved forward with a full Wix website redesign. This time, we were not guessing. We already understood the organization, the content, the audience, and the real problems behind the website.

We redesigned the site with a clearer homepage, stronger program pages, a proper events section, past event galleries, better email capture, a donation page, a location page for the new center, an About page, and a board of directors section.

The new website made BandWith feel more organized, more credible, and easier to understand.

Parents could find program information faster. Donors could see the mission more clearly. Supporters could follow updates and events. The team had a website that could finally grow with them.

On launch day, the new site brought in over 100 new visitors.

Since then, the website has moved closer to the 1,000 users per month range.

Today, BandWith has also grown from serving around 200 students annually to about 200 students weekly, raised over $10 million, built its art center in Chicago, and continued expanding its impact.

The website was not the only reason for that growth, but it became a stronger support system for it.

Today, WixFresh still maintains the BandWith Chicago website and keeps it clean, fresh, and up to date.
